Emma Gale's work celebrates a huge love for colour, shape and texture, with thick sweeping strokes of layered brushwork making Emma’s work immediately recognisable. Layers and layers of paint and mark makings of good and bad mistakes are all part of the the visual landscape of the canvas. Taking inspiration from other cultures and their daily rituals and routines, subjects are everyday people doing everyday things.

Born in Sydney in 1972, Emma has always been fascinated by different cultures, the people, their adornment, rituals and where they live. Emma translates their world through the eyes of her own on the canvas. Emma is drawn to the small things, maybe the forgotten and the behind the scenes. It is a collaboration between the artist and the culture, one where she can take us on a journey through her paintings. Emma now lives and works in Northern NSW.
